Ireland

Ireland is a country with a great deal of history, from prehistoric standing stones to medieval monasteries, Georgian architecture, and great literature. Not to forget the Guiness and the 'craic', which usually seem to go hand in hand for me.

The Netherlands

The Netherlands, or Holland, as it is usually and incorrectly known, has it's fair share of cliches - Bikes, cannals, windmills, tulips and clogs. These are all present and the endlessly flat landscape make the country ideal for cycling.

Belgium

Great Beer, Great Chocolate, and lots more. Little is known about this country due to its lack of nationalism, so common with many other European countries.

Luxembourg

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a tiny country (only 82km long by 57km wide), situated between France, Belgium and Germany. It is beautifully green, and is dotted with castles, river valleys and tiny towns.

France

France, being the largest country in Western Europe, is well known for its diversity of both landscape and culture.

Germany

Germany is a well organised country, with a complicated history. Well known for its superb beers, and hearty food, often consisting of Wurst (sausages).

Italy

Italy is most vibrant and sensual country you are likely to find. The style, the food, the wine, the art, the architecture, and the typically hectic nature of mediterranian cities will all leave you feeling dizzy.

Switzerland

Goethe described Switzerland as a combination of 'the colossal and the well ordered'. Nothing can beat the dramatic alpine landscape in terms of natural beauty. A contrast to the watch-like precission of the towns and cities.
