The Netherlands (Nederland)

The Hague
The Hague, was historically know as 's-Gravenhage, meaning 'the Count's Domain because a count built a castle here in the 13th century. Although Amsterdam is the capital, The Hague is the seat of governement for the Netherlands, and also the residence of the Dutch royal family.
I lived in The Hague in The Netherlands for a year, from September 2000 to September 2001.

Amsterdam
Amsterdam hardly needs any introduction. The city has always been one of Europe's most radical, an illustration of the Dutch commitment to tolerance and personal freedom.
The canal belts make Amsterdam an attractive city, and there is no shortage of things to do, with a great selection of museums, galleries and, for the evening, cafes and bars.
